Rated 4 out of 5 by ccullaz from Great shoe, wish it was more durable I got to test this shoe out last summer and loved it for long hikes, trail runs and even semi technical scrambling. The comfort and breath-ability of the knit upper was great for hot CO days, and the rubber is super grippy. I have also been using these this season in the Tetons for going up and down the Lupine meadows trail to guide the Grand, where the cushion really helps for the long downhill. The only downside is that after maybe 25 days of use, the sole is failing and peeling off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jess Hikes from Stylish and functional I’ve tried out a lot of Adidas boots and was excited to receive the new Free Hikers in the mail. These shoes performed well when I hiked up the muddy trails of Griffith park as well as the desert badlands of Borrego Springs. They are pretty stylish, looking more like a sneaker than a hiking boot. The Continental rubber tread is amazing, no slipping in the muddiest conditions. The stretchy fabric material surrounds the boot making them flexible, lightweight, breathable, and super comfortable—they feel more like a sock rather than a shoe! With that being said they lack the structure and stability of a typical hiking boot. Depending on your needs you might want something with more ankle support, waterproof material, and sturdy toe box. Not sure I would do any strenuous hikes in these but all in all a sturdy shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gaby from Great for that big push I just got my hands on a pair of these, with limited break in time I went to a big haul. 8 hours later I not only didn’t have blisters but through rocky, sometimes icy terrain I stayed dry while post holing and never once slipped or missed my footing

Rated 5 out of 5 by MACthehiker from A PCT dream I’m currently hiking the PCT in these shoes and loving them!! They are incredibly durable, the squishy soles keep my feet always happy, and the mesh top acts as a built-in gaiters. Couldn’t ask for better shoes to hike in for 2500 miles !

Rated 4 out of 5 by Becca from Super Comfy, Runs Big First off on the sizing - I'm pretty much always a 10 but had to go down a full size to a 9 in these. The fit on the 9 is great, though! They're super cushy, but not so much so that you can't feel what you're walking on. The gaiter on the ankle makes them a little challenging to get on super quickly, but it feels really nice, and when stomping around in the desert you don't end up with shoes full of pebbles and sand - these are so good for hiking around in sandy places! The grey and black with the red laces is kind of retro and really cool looking, I love that! They almost feel like a hybrid between trail runners and a light hiking boot; just SO comfy for clomping around in nature! They shed a little bit of water, but I wouldn't wear them for a super swampy hike - these are definitely a fantastic fair-weather hiker. They breathe really well, cling to rock like velcro and keep out debris so it's basically the perfect desert day hiker!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mbel from Great shoes! In all of my other Adodas shoes I wear a size 8 and I read the comments about them running large so o ordered a 7.5 and they were still too big so I ended up ordering a 7 and they’re still not tight by any means. If you are thinking of buying these for sure size down! The first time I wore them I did a two day hike and by the end of the second day the elastic around the ankle started rubbing. For sure wear socks that are taller than the elastic. Other than that they are very comfortable and look great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by eri_outside from Lightweight, comfortable and RUNS LARGE I bought these for alpine day hikes, and I haven't used them yet but wore them around the house a few times. These are light weight and the built-in ankle gaiter feels like it will be super helpful for keeping dirt and rocks out of the boots. You'll definitely want to wear a higher sock as a barrier between the gaiter and your leg. For sizing, I typically wear a 7-7.5 in hiking boots. I sized down to a 6.5 based on other reviews and there's still plenty of room for socks and swelling.. so size down 0.5-1 size on these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nichelle from Perfect for Hiking and Everyday Comfortable and rugged enough for hiking. These have also become my everyday shoe for walking my dogs. I have a narrow foot and got the smallest size so I couldn’t go down a size as some reviews mentioned but having thicker socks provided a good fit for me.
