Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stout Shoe I love the rock guard on the toe and the aggressive tread, these features makes it a very stout hiking shoe. However, these shoes are very stiff making agility on rough terrain awkward. I also found the elevated heel a bit too aggressive making it feel like I was wearing cowboy boots on the trail. I found these to be better for short leisure hikes, but nothing real suitable for longer day hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit- Great Support I received my Terrex Brushwood Leather Mens Hiking Book and have been testing them out for two months now. They fit my needs perfectly. I plan on doing some dayhikes on trails in Europe this summer and wanted a shoe lighter than my hiking boots but more robust than my light running shoes. After much research, I decided to try the Terrex Brushwoods. OMG- I am so happy. I have tried them out on my morning 4 mile-hikes in my California foothill neighborhood with my 28 lb. backpack. Their leather uppers keep my feet warm and provides support. I also appreciate the double-stitching. The heel structure is not tight but smooth fitting and supportive with a backpack. The toe box is protective for hiking on a trail. The Continental soles provide shank-like support and confident traction on slick surfaces during frost mornings. To me it's a great pair of boot and even better taking into account the affordable price and weighing only 25 oz. The Brushwoods weigh 40% less and take up 37% less packable volume than my hiking boots so they fit my needs perfectly in air travel and trail travel. I am looking forward to getting them dirty on European trails.
