Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stiff, powerful, and comfy I was looking for a stiff, comfy shoe as my first clipless option ever. A few hundred miles later, I'm totally happy with the Kestrel Lace. They're plenty powerful, possibly too stiff for lots of walking around, but perfect for cranking up and down long climbs. The laces were just too tight the first few times I used them; looser was the key. The velcro strap is helpful to locking my heel into the pocket, especially when hiking. They seem a little big (mostly long) for my feet in a size 9, which is my usual. A half size smaller would probably have been better, but they're comfy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Shoes Awesome shoes, great to upgrade from flat pedals and Vans skate shoes that had to much flex in the sole. So much more power with clips now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fit was different from my other FiveTen shoes I've always been happy with FiveTen shoes and mostly ran the Maltese Falcons and and Hellcats in the past. I was interested in a lighter and stiffer shoe for my hardtail bike, the initial impressions of the Kestrel were great and the shoes delivered on what I was looking for but I discovered after some ride time that the ankle cuff is a little higher and much stiffer, the shoes ended up digging into the underside of my ankles and caused blisters. I will probably try and sell them and go back to the Maltese Falcons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome shoe if you want to clip in but still walk Just a few rides with these shoes, but I already love them. They fit true to size and are easy to adjust with the laces. Easier to walk in than my old Bontragers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from stiff out of the box Outsole grip is great and what I would expect from 5.10. Still messing with cleat location. Compared to a more purpose build clipless shoe this feels a bit off and clunky, also the heel cup doesn't lock your heel in. Could be due to the overall stiffness of the shoe. Doesn't effect ride performance and you only notice when off the bike. Also the ankle cuff rubs a bit, I'm concerned about this. Still breaking these in so maybe will subside and soften up. Overall happy but not stoked. Again, only have 2 short 1 hour rides in thus far so we'll see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome MTB shoe! I've been using these for a couple years now and have been meaning to write a review. The shoes are comfortable, they have held up very well and are showing no signs of concerning wear. You can tell Five Ten put a lot of time into this shoe to get it just right!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shoe I previously had a pair of the kestrel boa shoes. And wanted to try laces this time. The lace version actually had better cushioning. However, they felt slightly bigger than the same size I bought last time. Which made them almost too big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy, Stiff, and Durable I have have had mine for 3+ years and am planing on getting one more year out of them. I have used them for both clipless and flat pedals. They are great clipless shoes, they transfer weight and power very good. They arn't the best for flat pedals because of the stiffness and lack of surface area that is necessary for the cleat. Overall great shoe if you ride with clipless pedals and occasionally ride flats. Not sure if Adidas has changed it since I bought them.
