Rated 2 out of 5 by Cedric from A step back from the old version This is my third pair of guide tennie. I had 2 pairs of the old ones and still have one pair of the mid version of the old one. I am pretty disapointed by this shoe. First, I had to send back the first pair because the size is not the same as the old model. I had previously used 43EU and I had to get 44EU. The hardest thing with this model compared to the old one is that it has so much padding at the back that it pushes the foot on the front and for me is quickly uncomfortable. The sole is also much stiffer, making it hard to feel your grip sometimes. So I will probably have to find a new approach shoe I can really wear for miles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by James G from Changed design, fit and feel fro the classic 5:10 I have been through about 6-7 pairs of the previous iterations of the 5:10 tennie, wearing them almost exclusively for everything from day to day, cycling, climbing up to British VD. The design has definitely changed now, the shoes are about a size smaller in fit, the toe box feels narrower and the heal is awful. The cut of the heal is especially bad in this model, it is low and chunky and feels insecure compared to the last generations. It also has a weird feeling amount of padding. I was really looking forward to the new retro edition of these, but will definitely be trying them on before leaping in. Very disappointed in these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rafa from Comfortable, but... They are already coming apart at the sole. I purchased them at the end of last month and within a week the sole rubber of the inner right shoe separated from the rand. They’re my fist pair of 5.10s. I’ve had approach shoes of other brands. I’ve always thought of 5.10s as a standard in the community. I’m not sure if this is a one off defect or if Adidas has changed the manufacturing process of the shoes construction (if that has anything to do with this issue). I’m not one to make a big deal of something like this. I purchased them to beat the heck out of them anyway. We’ll see how they hold up for this bouldering season. I’d recommend them to friends with a caution: don’t be surprised if this happens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DOLOCO from No gusseted tongue!!! I have owned two pairs of 5.10's previously. A pair of Freeride bike shoes and a Mid-top pair of the Guide Tennie's. Loved them both except for the insoles who's arch support seemed to be too far back for my feet. Just received my new pair of "GT lows" and discovered that they do not have a gusseted tongue! C'mon 5.10/Adidas, these are premium shoes and y'all are so CHEAP you can't put tongue gussets in:[ Most folks feet twist one way or the other and, BTW, the lace through on the tongue is NOT sufficient. I am going to keep these and see how well they do with my orthotics but they may be the last 5.10's I buy. Maybe I'll call to see if the Freeride's still have the elastic tongue "holders" for wearing unlaced next time, we'll see.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AZ Climber from Previous Design Was Better I've had three pairs of Guide Tennies now. The first two were the previous design, the new pair is the design that replaced the previous design. The old model was superior. The new Guide Tennies do not fit as well. I feel like they weren't broken and did not need fixing, so I'm curious why they altered their design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Phillip from New Mid Cut Version Please My pair of mid tops of the previous model is starting to wear out, looking for a replacement. If you do the mid top model again be sure to use the same lacing as the current low cut guide tennie. The old mid tops were not perfect and took a long time to break in because the material at the lacing system bunched up pinching one's toes. The liner material on old mid tops was sweaty and too warm. If you do the new mid cut version with the grommet style lacing and a lighter warm weather suited / less sweaty lining you got a unique selling point. There's a few mid cut approach shoes with gore-tex, but hardly any mid cuts with a truely breathable lining that is suited for warmer weather. I get it that a low cut is a bit lighter, but often the mid cut is simply the better option providing just enough protection to keep your ankles from getting beat up in a rugged environment. It's a great shoe, mid cut version please.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sendy McSenderson from Bring back the mid-top! These shoes kick butt! super sticky and comfy, but would be 1000x better if there was a mid top option.

Rated 1 out of 5 by mrbnyc from Terrible new design These are now the perfect shoe to walk around REI acting like you spend time hiking/climbing. Been wearing these for 10 years, just got a new pair and they are at least a size smaller, chunky like skate shoes, no longer has a gusseted tongue, and now seems to have a significant heel to toe drop. All the things that made these shoes great have been changed. Returned immediately and won't be buying again.
