Rated 4 out of 5 by Drink Coffee Climb Rocks from Its true what they're saying, they run large Most reviewers are saying these run a 1/2 size large. I would say they run 3/4 of a size large. I bought them in a size 10 and they are noticably larger than my access approach shoes with are size 10.5. I typcially were are 10 - 10.5 in approach shoes. I bought these to be more a casual shoe for cragging and around town, not a shoe I would actually climb anything in. I wanted to be able to slip it on and off with out untying. Normally with 5.10 shoes that would have meant a 10.5. I bought these in a 10 and still have some extra room. I probably could have gone 9.5 and still ended up with a shoe that fit the "casual approach shoe" bill. Other than that, they seem quite nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Levi565 from Sizing I bought this a month ago and I am happy with it. I was looking for a technical approach shoe with a wide range of functionality. I ordered my street size and the shoes were about a size bigger than expected. My next purchase I’ll downsize about a size and a half ex: 11-9.5. Because they’re a little bit to big they’re not my technical approach shoe, but they’re super stylish so I wear them around town and I work at a rock gym so they’re perfect for scrambling up the wall giving beta. Toe box also fits a little wide, but can be tightened down reasonably, from when I first put them on these shoes were super comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by arcejaeger from Casual Routesetting Shoe Sizing: It depends what you want to use it for. I wear a size 9 to 9 1/2 Nike and found the size 9 FiveTennie to be snug on the roof of my foot (due to the sock-like fit), but quite long around the toes. Feel: They're a mix between the Aescent and Guide Tennie. Definitely not as stiff as the Guide Tennie, but not as soft as the Aescent. The base of the shoe is 100% flat, so heel hooking is a no go. Edging seems feasible, but again my sizing was off so right now I can't edge on much. Look: They look like great casual shoes. Sleek and go well with any form of casual attire. No complaints there. Since I use these the most for routesetting, if I were to do it again I'd get the shoes tight enough so my toes are at least touching the front of the shoe so I can feel edging. Right now, they're definitely too big for that. Personally, I can't wait for a comfortable day-shoe that has some toe rubber and a semi-fitted heel for climbing in... No idea what that shoe would look like but I bet it would be a big hit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by mattyhanes from Nifty Shoes Bought these more for aesthetics and the connection to the 1970's/1980's approach shoe than to actually use as approach shoes, but have been surprised how featured they are. The fit is definitely large, I sized down a full size and they are just right for streetwear but they would still be too big for climbing confidently in. Their hiking ability/stiffness is really good. Better than the modern guide tennies. The stretchy tongue locks in the fit and is a modern touch. They are also more narrow than the modern guide tennie. Anyway, cool shoes, probably not great for climbing in, good for hiking in, and I like the pink laces.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mike R from Same in Name Only I had dozens, yes dozens, of the original Five Ten Approach shoes. I bought the last batch of the originals Five Tens had. Sold some and gave others away. Most common statement was "These are the most comfortable shoes I ever owned!" I agree 100%. Still have one pair left. The new shoes by Adidas don't even hold a resemblance to the comfort and fit of Five Ten's original Approach Shoe. Quite disappointed. Returned them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SteveD from My New Everyday Shoe I was hesistant to buy these shoes at first, as I didn’t want to pick up approach shoes that wouldn’t last long doing what I bought them for (scrambling, peak bagging). So far, not only have they shown to be super durable, but they are way sturdier than I had imagined. Although not advertised as particularly waterproof/water resistant, they have held up jogging through puddles without letting my feet get wet. The outside also dries pretty quickly. I feel they can replace just about any shoe in my collection, and look great while doing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NarthZader from Saw the other review, shoulda listened! The shoes are great! they look awesome and fit great. They run about a half size larger than other 5.10s At least the width feels snug true to size, but the length is a 1/2 big. I'm super stoked on the free returns guarantee so I can switch them out and get a size down quick!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Cornbread from Lasted 3 months of light use I really liked these, but they didn't last. The fabric separated near the eyelets on the right shoe as shown in the attached pictures. These did not see heavy use. I wore them for three months. I filed a warranty claim. Hopefully the problem I experienced was a defect limited to the first pair, and the replacement pair lasts (much) longer.
