Rated 2 out of 5 by Karlton from Huge letdown I have 4 pairs of teams, several pairs of Dragons and Hiangles. These are NOTHING like dragons or teams. If you match up the soles these have a wider toebox than the Hiangle an it's somehow more rounded/bulbous. There is wayyy more volume than the Teams and the heel is way less aggressive than any of the aforementioned shoes. Also the metal buckle for the strap is super high up near the ankle bone and digs into the ankle. The tongue is way too tall/long and bunches up a lot. These are more like a velcro Quantum than any of the old Five Ten shoes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Riley334 from Solid shoe, had to modify for comfort Got these around two weeks ago and went out to a local boulder to try them out. Shoe is very solid, heels feel nice and tight and the edging is fantastic. Only problem is the buckle for the top strap really digs into your ankle when you flex your foot up at all. Solved this problem by cutting the piece attached to the buckle a little bit so the buckle could slide down further and not be so close to the ankle. After this the shoes have no problems, just wish this would have been discovered and fixed during testing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by birdperson from Fresh Dragons Big fan of the older 5.10 dragons and excited to feel that these climb have a very similar feel. Heel cup is the most noticeable difference, and in a positive way. Sizing - these look/feel about 1/2 size bigger than the old lace-ups. I'd suggest sizing 1/2 size down if you are looking to match.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dakota from A comfortable, aggressive shoe After only a couple days of using the shoes, I really like them. The rubber might be a little too thick/stiff for me, but I am hoping with time they will soften. Other reviews stating the buckle digs into your ankle are overblown. If you move the tongue of the shoe to the side, you'll have zero issues. The heel fits my foot well and I like it more than the old dragons which were too narrow. Overall, a great shoe if you like thick/stiff rubber. Don't buy these with the assumption they are similar to the old dragons, they aren't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Josephcaceres from Almost perfect shoe! I have climbed in most of the five ten line, and have eagerly anticipated the release of this shoe for over a year now. I used to climb in the Blackwings, and the Dragon VCS does an excellent job of improving it. The toe rubber and new heel hook design are welcome additions that frankly should have happened a long time ago. As with the blackwing, the asymmetry of the Dragon cranks the feet toward the big toe, and puts the foot in pretty powerful position. When I slide the shoe on, I actually have to press on the inside of the toe to wiggle my foot into place. I can't give this shoe 5 stars because of two reasons. The Velcro straps are absurdly long, and dangle on the sides of the foot like dog ears. To remedy this, one might consider taking scissors to em, but I'd frankly rather not. Secondly, and this is the big one, when velcroing the shoes closed, the tongue bunches up at the ankle, creating a very uncomfortable spot. It's bearable, and I will be climbing through the discomfort, but the split tongue design of the blackwing was much better in my opinion. Neither of these issues effect performance, and I am excited to have an HF shoe that isn't the overly soft and extremely uncomfortable Teams. This season my quiver will be the Dragon VCS and the Anasazi Pro. I got a glovelike performance fit at US 9 in the dragons. For reference, I wear Blackwing 9, Hiangle 9, Team 9, Quantum lace 9, Anasazi Pro 8.5, Here in VCS 8.
