Rated 1 out of 5 by klutz904 from NOT worth the wait If you liked anything about the old Dragons, you won't like much about this new model. Nearly everything good about the OG model has been changed. There is different fabric, more fabric on top, a higher rise at the ankle and a clunkier heel and toe. The old model fit like a glove, but these aren't snug at all around the arch or the heel. They just feel like an aggressive Quantum. I am disappointed that it took nearly TWO YEARS for adidas Outdoor/Five Ten to finally release the "revamped" Dragons, only to release a lackluster product. I should have just found a new shoe instead of waiting so long for these to come out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Karlton from Destroyed a classic I was super stoked on a newer Dragon, but these are nothing like the old Dragon. The pointed, precise toebox is gone and instead shares a weird, bulbous, rounded toebox with the Quantum VCS. They are much higher volume and have a much less aggressive heel. The old Dragons fit my foot perfectly and I can heel hook with the laces untied, these have a bunch of extra deadspace. I don't know what they were thinking with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BBJ_AR from Snug, comfortable fit I own a pair of the old Dragons and got some of these to try out. They fit perfectly, same size as my old ones. When I first put them on they felt a bit more like hiangles than the old dragons but after wearing them for a few sessions they've become super comfy. They still don't feel exactly like the old dragons - not as sensitive in the toe and a little clunkier overall. However I would say that the inside of the shoe is more comfortable out of the box and that the heel on these fits me much better than the old ones because it comes up a little higher and seems to have a better shape. Overall very satisfied and can't wait til they're fully broken in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Brandon5656 from Super sticky, but poor construction Long review but I think it's important to get to all the details. I have owned more than 10 pairs of 5.10 shoes, and Dragons have always been my go-to for steep/overhanging boulder problems and sport routes. I bought 4 shoes when 5.10 released the new style Dragon: Dragon Lace Sz 8 and Sz 8.5. Dragon Velcro Sz 8 and Sz 8.5. I was very excited about the idea of a new Dragon with velcro closure; however, it was quickly apparent they wouldn't work for me. The plastic closure hinge on both shoe sizes dug painfully into both of my ankles. So I didn't even wear them at the gym or outside, and I sent them back. The lace versions felt much better. I decided to keep both sizes, one for more comfortable climbing and one for red-pointing steep projects. I took the larger shoe (Sz 8.5) out climbing. The first 30 minutes were great for warming up on vertical to slightly-overhanging rock. The shoe instantly felt broken in, with sticky rubber and a suction-like feel around my foot. Next I decided to try them on my project, and this is where things fell apart (literally). After just several attempts with a sloper heel hook (NOT sharp!), the heel rand completely separated from the shoe, making them useless. I am quite disappointed with the quality, but I hope this was just a one-off defect. I'm waiting to see if 5.10 will warranty this shoe.

Rated 1 out of 5 by iCanAlwaysResoleTheOldOne from Miss the Old Dragons These shoes are at least a half size/full size larger than the original dragons. The heel tab comes up higher on the ankle and the heel cap seems a lot larger. There seems to be a lot of extra material in the toe vamp. I'm really sad that I waited two years for this shoe to come out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ktorres925 from Excellent shoe So far I’ve just begun to break these in. I’m already impressed with the toe, incredibly sticky rubber, very precise edge, and super sensitive. The heels are also very soft and sensitive, something I’m not used to coming from la sportiva. I usually wear between an 8 and 8.5 in street shoes, and I sized my dragons down to a 7.5. It’s nearly impossible to get the shoes on, but once I do it’s a total performance fit. I’m getting pressure points on the outside edge of my feet, but I imagine that will ease up once they’re fully broken in. Totally stoked on these, can’t wait to see how they feel once broken in!

Rated 5 out of 5 by YeahBabyFettyWap from What's up with all the negative reviews? I love these shoes. I've heard quite a bit of negative wordage about these shoes, but my experience has been nothing but positive. I've been climbing in them since about September. I've climbed in La Sportiva Solutions and Katanas, Five Ten Arrowheads, Evolv Shamans, Oracles, Agros, and the Five Ten Dragons are my favorite shoe out of all of them. I never used the old version of the Dragons so I can't compare to those, but I've had no issues with these and wanted to lend them a little credibility, especially since I think that people who are unhappy with products are more likely to leave reviews out of frustration. These shoes are rad people! I sent my first V7 in Red Rock NP in these bad boys. Don't let the negative reviews steer your away from missing out on a sick shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matt J from Great shoe for slick limestone and gym climbing These are my go to shoe when climbing in rifle. Where other shoes have slipped on me these have stuck just fine. I would not recommend using these shoes at a place like shelf road where the rock is much sharper and you are on your feet a lot more as it would be painful. Use these shoes for the steep sport climbing, and have another stiffer pair for the more vertical climbs.
