Rated 5 out of 5 by Eric Rad from Great all-around! Outstanding all-around fast hiker/approach shoe The Terrex Swift mid Gore-Tex is a shoe that has won me over as an incredible all-arounder. I have used this boot intensively over the past 3 months during the winter-spring shoulder season in New Mexico, Colorado and New England and found it to be agile, super-light (given it's level of support), and very grippy in a variety of conditions. I have worn the Terrex Swift with Microspikes for surer traction on icy snow---the shoes are easily substantial enough to handle the Microspikes. (The limiting factor, of course, will be their lack of insulation which makes this ordinarily a 3 season shoe--Adidas makes a Primaloft-insulated version of this shoe for colder conditions.) The Continental rubber outsole--as advertised--provides great friction on dry and wet surfaces and, surprisingly, these light hikers are fine approach shoes for moderate climbing/bouldering. The fit is precise, a quality which aids the shoe's sensitivity during hikes/climbs. While the cinching lace-up system takes a little while to get used to, but I have found (with slight modification) that it provides an efficient way for snugging the shoe--a feature which has means that I haven't had to stop and tighten the laces during long hikes. The slight modification I made was to tie an overhand knot 1.5 - 2" from the end-loop of the laces which 1) reduces the over-all length of the laces (preventing them from overhanging the boot) and thus 2) creates a "stopper" knot to keep the lace from creeping out past the lace-keeper, thus eliminating a possible tripping factor with the supplied quick lace-up system. As promoted, the Gore-tex liner works extremely well to waterproof the shoes: after daily use of three months I can still wade ankle-deep into water without any leakage. After this intensive use the boots' uppers have proven to be durable, with little visible wear. The boots are reasonably stone-proof, meaning that they are stiff enough to prevent protrusions on the trail from being felt through the sole system. While not a running shoe, per se, I have jogged steeps and flats in the Terrex Swifts with a high degree of comfort. As with any grippy outsole compound, the tread wear is noticeable after three months--but this level of wear is slightly more durable than La Sportiva's Frixion outsole. I highly recommend the Terrex Swift as a generalist's fast-hiker, a boot that is supremely adaptable to a variety of trail conditions. The Swift mid gtx is also a great single choice for traveling---going from the city to the back country with ease. I have 2 caveats: the sole shows moderate wear after 3 months of daily use, also not a shoe that I would use with a pack load over 15-20 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Russell1922 from Terrex swift r awesome I bought the low version of this some months ago and just received the mid a few days ago. Both of these shoes are fantastic. Great grip, really comfortable and WATERPROOF. I do a lot of field work designing disc golf course and these keep my feet dry and very happy. They are very durable. Rated 2 out of 5 by Daily Hiker from Sole Wears Out Quickly Like all Adidas outdoor footwear with the Traxion sole I have used, the sole wears out too fast in my opinion. The upper portion of the boot is still fine when the sole lugs are worn smooth. The Adidas Continental soles on some other models are far more durable in my experience. At the price of this boot the Contiental sole is what Adidas should be using here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Phil from Great Work Boot I bought this boot about a month ago and use it extensively for work. There was very minimal break in time that was noticed. The boot was used the other day in upper 40degree weather with a consistent rain and puddles in the grass. I was standing for around 4hrs and my feet remained dry and comfortable. Great hiking boot that works great in a work setting
